The Westchester Youth Alliance (WYA) is calling on teens from across Westchester County to join its annual Thanksgiving “Cook for a Cause” and Interfaith Service, a hands-on community service event running November 20–25 in Bedford and Mount Kisco. WYA aims to bring 150 students in grades 8–12 to five volunteer shifts as part of a grassroots effort to prepare more than 4,000 holiday meals and combat food insecurity in the region in collaboration with Temple Shaaray Tefila. Across the five shifts, teens will prep ingredients, cook, pack meals and serve a Thanksgiving lunch to immigrant neighbors in Mount Kisco. The centerpiece is an afternoon of food preparation at Bedford Presbyterian Church paired with an interfaith service at Temple Shaaray Tefila. For both events young people of different faiths and backgrounds work side by side in service to their neighbors. “Cook for a Cause shows teens what’s possible when they roll up their sleeves together,” said Kylie Robertson, Senior Program
