Ben Johnson and Mike Macdonald were both on Seattle’s shortlist when the Seahawks replaced Pete Carroll after the 2023 season. Seattle hired Macdonald, and Chicago hired Johnson a year later. On Monday night at Lumen Field (8:15 PM ET, ESPN), they face each other with two of the NFL’s best units. Chicago (5-2) has won two straight and leads the league with 154.3 rushing yards per game. Caleb Williams threw for 308 yards in a 30-24 win over New England and has thrown for 300 yards with no interceptions in back-to-back starts. Seattle (4-3) has the league’s top defense by yards allowed. It has held all seven opponents under 180 passing yards and hasn’t allowed a 100-yard rusher in 36 straight games. “Obviously that’s the best defense in football right now,” Williams said.
